A kid growing up in Iowa, Chad Calek regularly heard rumors that his new home was haunted. Not a believer in the supernatural, he mocked the claims and swore he would never accept the existence of "the other side". But after an outburst of terrifying paranormal activity began, which Calek and his family documented over the course of a decade, a believer was made, the quest for answers began and a paranormal investigator was born.
Driven to understand exactly what he had witnessed, Calek read countless books and studies on paranormal phenomena, while becoming a documentary filmmaker. His goal was to gain the ability to properly present his research and findings to skeptics and believers alike.

This documentary would also eventually find its way to Steven Spielberg, who hired Calek to develop a paranormal-based internet project.
Today, Calek is a regular on A&E’s “Paranormal State”, and 19 episodes later, he has become one of the stars of the show. Calek made his behind the camera debut for “Paranormal State” by directing the one hour special "Darkness Falls", that quickly became a fan favorite and season four's most talked about episode.
In 2009, Calek along with Ryan Buell, produced "American Ghost Hunter", chronicling The Calek family’s twenty-year battle with intense paranormal activity, and their attempts to finally bring the activity to an end.
Today, Calek is an in-demand speaker at colleges nationwide. Between his encounters with the paranormal as a child, his personal investigations of the country’s most haunted locations and his time spent on Paranormal State, very few paranormal investigators have the insight and the evidence to back up their thoughts and theories on the paranormal.
His unique experiences combined with his sense of humor, honest approach and genuine love for storytelling leaves audiences both shocked and entertained as Calek attempts to answer the question...
