Dr. Kara Cooney is an Assistant Professor of Egyptian Art and Architecture at UCLA. She earned her PhD in Near Eastern Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2002. She has been part of archaeological excavations in Egypt at the craftsmen’s village of Deir el Medina, the royal temple site of Dahshur and various elite Theban tombs. She is published under the name Kathlyn M. Cooney, but called Kara by everyone. Kara is currently working on a new comparative archaeology series entitled OUT OF EGYPT, created with her husband Neil Crawford. |

Captain Sig Hansen born in Seattle, Washington is the first generation from his family born in the United States. He is a fourth generation fisherman and one of the featured Captain's on Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch. Sig currently serves as the full-time captain during King and opilio crab seasons as well as the Pot cod fishery on the Northwestern. His youngest brother, Edgar, works as the Engineer and Deck boss. Norman, the middle brother, returned to the boat as a deckhand. |

Deanne Bell can recite many digits of pi, but her talents don't stop there! She received her B.S. in mechanical engineering in 2002 from Washington University in St. Louis. Her work experience ranges from designing FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared) and LADAR optical navigation systems for the aerospace industry to doing product development for a CAD software startup. Deanne is passionate about working with the next generation of scientists and engineers. When Deanne's not analyzing the destruction at Smash Lab, she seeks out global travel and outdoor adventure. |
