Despite the health care reform bill that President Obama signed in 2010, millions of Americans will remain without health care, and the cost of care will continue to grow at alarming and unsustainable rates.
Health care in America is in a state of crisis.
Reform is a complicated, massive undertaking, and many Americans vehemently and fundamentally disagree on this vision and its approach: many Americans finally want universal, single-payer health care. They want the US Government to guarantee our care, just like it’s done in Canada and much of Europe. Other Americans distrust the government’s ability to provide quality care, and place their confidence and trust in the free market to get the job done. |

Elizabeth Rosenthal has been a practicing physician and medical educator for over 35 years. Coming from a family of doctors, she pursued a career in medicine, with the goal of helping people to get and stay well. In addition to her private practice as a dermatologist, Dr. Rosenthal is a professor of dermatology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in Bronx, NY, working with residents and medical students.
In recent years, she has seen firsthand, the decline of the health care "non-system" in this country and, is now working hard to reform it. As an active member of Physicians for a National Health Program, Dr. Rosenthal firmly believes that a single payer, privately delivered, publicly funded national health plan is the best way to accomplish this. She has been active as a lecturer and healthcare advocate to educate the public and achieve this goal.
Dr. Rosenthal is a graduate of Smith College (A.B) and New York University School of Medicine (M.D.)
