Music industry maverick and entrepreneur Michael Lang, is best-known as the mastermind and creative genius who brought the legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival to life.

In this 40th anniversary year, Lang is telling the story of Woodstock; a tale that includes vast challenges & impossible odds, hippies protesting Vietnam, dropping out and dropping acid, great music from artists like The Who, Santana, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, downpour and an ocean of mud, Wavy Gravy and Abbie Hoffman, 400,000 being groovy and getting along in peace, lawsuits, financial disaster, threats from the Governor and National Guard, and the massive post-festival clean up of Yasgur’s farm in upstate New York.

But beyond these stories, he provides context for what the 60’s meant then, and how we can all benefit today from the spirit of this fabled time in America.

His college lectures – complete with audio and visuals – are a unique glimpse inside a time capsule and rare opportunity to hear spellbinding first-hand accounts from Woodstock and how it was pulled off.

Michael Lang’s new book “The Road to Woodstock” (HarperCollins) was released August, 2009 and is a best-seller.

He was featured prominently in the 1970 Academy Award winning documentary film “Woodstock : 3 Days of Peace & Music” and he is portrayed by actor Jonathan Groff in the new Ang Lee film “Taking Woodstock” featuring Demetri Martin and Eugene Levy.

In 2009, Woodstock Ventures, owned in part by Lang, formed a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment and launched a new woodstock.com. The site celebrates the history of the original Woodstock Festivals and serves as a live music social network.
