Tim Otteman, author of 'BETTOR EDUCATION' The Life Stories of 14 College Student Sports Gamblers (VDM Publishing), has been recognized as one of America's leading experts on sports gambling.

Tim's perspectives of sports gambling are colored by his personal experiences as a participant/observer regarding sports gambling over the past 25 years. His father was a frequent sports gambler and bookmaker, his brother ran a campus bookmaking operation and he personally financed the majority of his undergraduate education by wagering on sports.

Tim has published five articles regarding sports gambling as invited columns in the popular media since 2007 and is frequently quoted as a sports gambling expert in a wide variety of local, state, national and international publications such as ESPN, Fox Business, USA Today, Yahoo! Sports, Washington Post, Athlon Sports Annual and Financial Times London; plus numerous radio outlets and gambling association websites. In 2010, he co-authored the Sports Betting chapter in the The International Encyclopedia of Gambling.

Tim has also had the opportunity to interview numerous other sports gamblers and bookies plus members of organized crime who ran bookmaking operations in the 1960's-1990's.  This was in addition to the life story research conducted with 14 undergraduate students intimately involved in illegal sports gambling for his dissertation toward his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.  These unique perspectives combined with his only personal experiences with the underworld of gambling have allowed him to create a series of distinctive educational and information trainings and presentations regarding sports gambling.
